Quick Start Guide
The SOS App is designed to help you stay safe during emergencies by sending alerts, recording incidents discreetly, and tracking your health and location activities — even when you cannot manually use your phone.
It includes features like live SOS alerts, fall detection, emergency audio/video recording, and health monitoring. The app can act automatically in critical moments when every second matters.
This Quick Start Guide will walk you through installing the SOS App, setting up your emergency contacts, granting essential permissions, and enabling key safety features — so you can start using the app confidently and stay protected from day one.
Get started with the SOS App
Follow these steps to install, set up, and start using the SOS App.
Step 1: Install the SOS App
To install the app:
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
- Search for The SOS App by Famalth.
- Tap Install.

Only download the app from the official Play Store link. Installing from unofficial sources isn't supported.

Step 2: Set up emergency contacts
After installation:
- Open the SOS App.
- Go to the Emergency Contacts section.
- Tap Add Contact.
- Choose trusted contacts from your phonebook.
- Save the list.
You can edit or remove contacts later at any time.
Step 3: Give necessary permissions
The SOS App needs certain permissions to work correctly.
Allow these permissions when prompted during setup:

Location access: To send your live location during emergencies. Choose "Allow all the time" for better background tracking.

SMS access: To send SOS alerts through text messages if mobile data isn't available.

Contacts access: To pick emergency contacts from your device's contact list.

Notification access: To show important alerts, like fall detection.

Physical activity recognition: To detect falls and track your movement.

Camera and microphone access: To record audio or video secretly if needed.

Ignore battery optimization: To keep the app active in the background during emergencies and prevent the system from stopping critical services.

Appear on top (Display over other apps): To allow the SOS App to show urgent alerts, emergency countdowns, or floating buttons even when other apps are open.
If you skip a permission, you can manually enable it later under Settings > App Settings > Permissions.
Step 4: Add the SOS Quick Access widget
To add the widget:
- On your device's home screen, touch and hold a blank space.
- Tap Widgets.
- Find SOS App.
- Touch and hold the SOS Widget, then drag it to your home screen.
You can now send an SOS alert with one tap without opening the app.
Step 5: Turn on fall detection (optional)
Fall detection can automatically alert your contacts if you have an accident.
To turn on fall detection:
- Open the SOS App.
- Go to Dashboard > Fall Detection.
- Turn on Fall Detection.
- Adjust sensitivity if needed.
Fall detection is recommended for seniors, solo travelers, and individuals with medical conditions.
Step 6: Explore additional safety features
The SOS App offers more tools to help you stay safe:

Parent and Child Tracking: Track your family members' real-time location securely using encrypted communication — no server storage involved.

Location Sharing: Instantly share your live location with emergency contacts when needed.

Emergency Siren: Sound a loud alarm from your device to deter threats and attract public attention.

Fake Call: Simulate an incoming call on your phone to exit uncomfortable or risky situations discreetly.

Nearby Hospitals and Police Stations: Quickly locate and navigate to nearby hospitals, police stations, and emergency centers on the map.

Secret Audio/Video Recording: Record audio or video discreetly during emergencies. Files are securely uploaded to Google Drive if permission is granted.

Health Tracking: Monitor your daily steps, calories burned, and activity levels. Earn motivational badges for healthy routines.

Cloud Backup: Save your emergency settings, contacts, and health data securely to your linked Google Drive account for easy one-tap restoration.
Customize the app in Settings:
- Change between Light Mode and Dark Mode.
- Personalize your SOS alert message.
- Adjust health and safety features as needed.
