Watch Settings

The Watch Settings section in the Famalth ONE App (Wear OS) allows users to enable or disable key emergency and health features directly from their smartwatch.
These settings make your watch an active part of your safety network — allowing it to send, receive, and monitor SOS alerts without needing to touch your phone.

Overview​

Under SOS Features, you will find three main toggles:

  1. Send SOS Alerts via BLE
  2. Receive SOS Alerts via BLE
  3. Health Guardian

Each of these features can be turned ON or OFF independently depending on your preferences and device permissions.

1. Send SOS Alerts via BLE​

Enable this feature to allow your smartwatch to broadcast emergency alerts using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) when the internet is unavailable.

When switched ON:

  • The watch broadcasts a short-range SOS signal detectable by nearby Famalth ONE App users (both phones and watches).
  • This works even offline, ensuring help can reach you in isolated or no-network areas.
  • The system automatically shares your device name, approximate distance, and alert message.

BLE alerts typically reach devices within a 200–250 meters radius depending on surroundings and device hardware.

How to Enable​

  1. On your Wear OS watch, open the Famalth SOS Watch App.
  2. Tap Settings → SOS Features.
  3. Toggle Send SOS Alerts via BLE ON.
  4. You’ll see a brief confirmation that broadcasting is active.

When to Use​

Use this feature when:

  • Traveling in low-network zones.
  • Wanting to reach nearby community responders quickly.
  • Participating in crowded public events where cellular signals are unreliable.

2. Receive SOS Alerts via BLE​

When enabled, your watch can listen for nearby SOS broadcasts sent by other Famalth users through BLE.

When switched ON:

  • The watch continuously scans for SOS BLE signals in the background.
  • If another user nearby triggers an SOS alert, your watch displays an Emergency Notification.
  • You can view the message and location (if available) and respond accordingly.

How to Enable​

  1. Open Famalth SOS Watch App → Settings → SOS Features.
  2. Toggle Receive SOS Alerts via BLE ON.
  3. Allow required permissions if prompted (Bluetooth + Location).

Keep Bluetooth and Location enabled for uninterrupted alert detection.

Use Case​

This feature is vital for:

  • Family members staying close to each other.
  • Community safety volunteers or local emergency networks.
  • Detecting distress signals from nearby users even when phones are out of service.

3. Health Guardian​

The Health Guardian monitors your key health metrics.

When turned ON:

  • The watch monitors your fall detection, heart beat, and physical activity in real time.
  • Health data is securely processed on-device.

How to Enable​

  1. Open the Famalth SOS Watch App.
  2. Navigate to Settings → SOS Features.
  3. Toggle Health Guardian ON.
  4. Grant sensor access permissions when prompted.

Health Guardian requires continuous sensor access and may increase battery usage slightly when active.

Activate when:

  • You have pre-existing health conditions or mobility risks.
  • You want automated health-based SOS without manual input.
  • You prefer real-time monitoring for peace of mind.

Example Use Case​

  1. You enable Send SOS via BLE and Health Guardian.
  2. If a fall is detected, the watch immediately broadcasts an SOS BLE alert.
  3. Nearby users with Receive SOS Alerts via BLE enabled get notified and can assist.
  4. Meanwhile, your paired phone can also forward the SOS message with location to your emergency contacts.

Troubleshooting​
